Silver consolidates near multi-year highs

Latest

Silver prices held firm near recent multi-year highs this week, with XAG/USD trading in a tight range between $31.20 and $32.80 per troy ounce. Sterling-denominated prices benefited from modest GBP weakness, pushing the XAG/GBP rate to levels that represent favourable selling conditions for UK holders.

The primary support continues to come from industrial demand — particularly solar panel manufacturing, where silver's electrical conductivity is irreplaceable — alongside ongoing central bank gold accumulation that has carried positive sentiment across the precious metals complex.

Dollar strength weighs on silver

A stronger USD weighed on silver this week, with XAG/USD retreating from the week's highs. However, GBP also weakened against the dollar, partially offsetting the impact for UK sellers — XAG/GBP ended the week broadly flat compared to the prior week's close.

Technical indicators suggest support at current levels. The medium-term outlook remains constructive given structural industrial demand and supply constraints from major mining regions.
